7027 bogie despatched for restoration

7027 bogie despatched for restoration

In the first major step of our restoration of No 7027 'Thornbury Castle', we have despatched the loco's front bogie for refurbishment and reassembly.

This is very exciting news, as it marks the beginning of the long road to full restoration. After an intensive transportation project last year to bring a large quantity of components together from different parts of the UK, we are pleased to report that all the major parts of the loco's bogie are present and in January we despatched them on our own low loader to West Somerset Restoration at Williton. Under the supervision of engineer Ryan Pope, who has recently overseen the complete overhaul of his own locomotive, 7027's bogie parts will be cleaned, refurbished and reassembled before being returned to our base in Weston-super-Mare.
